The Basics
- Hand wash your board with soap and water after every use. Don't use any harsh chemicals or abrasives.
- Wipe it down and let it dry completely.
- Store it in a safe dry place.
- If your board starts to look dry, oil it with food grade mineral oil. You can do this as often as you like. Give it as much as it will take than wipe off the excess. Follow that with a generous slathering of board conditioner. Let that soak in overnight then buff off the excess with a paper towel.
- NEVER soak your board in water for any length of time.
- NEVER EVER put your board in the dish washer. That will kill it.
- Don't use serrated blades.
- I think that covers the important things, but if you have questions or concerns, the internet is chock full of very useful information on cutting board care.
- With proper care your board can last many years.
